Cake birthday card

I've got a cool shaped birthday card today from Wild Card 2.  I just got Wild Card 2 and Create a Critter 2 this week and am so looking forward to playing with both after browsing the handbooks!!  This is my first cut from Wild Card 2.  I cut the birthday cake card, plus all it's layers, at 5 1/2 inches, along with the matching envelope, to whip up a quick card for the birthday party my kiddo "forgot" to mention until the last minute!

Hole in One layout

One more mini-golfing layout ahead-this one simple and fun, using no patterned paper, just plain card stock!  I used All Sports for the title and A Child's Year for the scalloped shape for the journaling box.  The stickers are from Karen Foster and little action from my white gel pen finished it off.

Fore! (mini-golf) layout

The sports cartridges were my go-tos for this spread.  I used a bunch of scraps to do this layout, which always makes me happy!  (It's good to feel thrifty and not just like a paper hoarder...)   I made this layout for some mini-golfing pictures from the summer vacation, and enjoyed putting together the golf guy from All Sports (since my Dad won, it was especially perfect).  I also cut the golf balls from Sports Mania and FORE from the All Sports cart and added a few Karen Foster stickers that I've had laying around for who knows how long (again, thrifty I tell you!!!  Shopping the stash!  The fact that my stash is the size of a smaller version of Archievers is irrelevant!).

I'm going to link this to the CTO challenge this week:  sports.  The kids are not really involved in organized sports, so mini-golf and waterskiing are about as close to sports as we get!   

Lights, Motors, Action! layout (Disney)

We saw the coolest stunt car show at Disney's Hollywood Studios!  One of the stunt cars in the show was Lightning McQueen.  I had so much fun cutting the road sign for the title and the flames and lightning bolts from the Cars cartridge.  The font on the road sign is the block font on Boys Will Be Boys and the font for the "stunt show" is Learning Curve.

Kilimanjaro Safari (Disney) layout

I'd found this amazing paper from the Bo Bunny Zoology collection to use for these pictures from the Kilimanjaro Safari (in Disney's Animal Kingdom), but was really just couldn't figure out how to keep the layout simple enough not to overwhelm the paper.  I finally cut the elephant silhouette from the Zoo Day cartridge for my embellishment.  The journal box and stickers are from the paper collection.  The title is cut from the CM This and That cartridge's Anytime Font.

I'm linking this to the Die Cuttin Divas challenge this week:  use an elephant on a project.  Now I'll admit my elephant is about as stark and unadorned as an elephant can get, but it seemed to fit the page like that, so there you have it.  I keep telling myself sometimes plain and simple is best, even though I keep wanting to add just one more thing, lol!

Kayaking Fun layout

This is my first time using the Fun in the Sun lite cartridge-I've had it all summer sitting there looking at me!   We tried out kayaks for the first time while on vacation this summer, so I cut the kayaking guy with my cricut.   (Can't wait to cut out the waterski girl on this cart for another layout!)  The paper is from the Paradise Beach collection by Echo Park.   The fun funky font (how's that for alliteration?  I've clearly been helping the kids with too many English assignments already.)  is from the Robotz cartridge.

Hoot Couture card

Son#1 got lots of very nice clothes from his grandparents for his recent birthday (he's quite the clotheshorse!), so I used the Hoot and Holler phrase "Hoot Couture" for the thank you card.  I've always wanted a reason to cut that phrase with an owl....this was the perfect excuse!  The inside stamp is from My Pink Stamper.  I had to make it not look too girly since this IS from a boy, so went with a blue and green color scheme.
