sports Super Bowl layout

Happy Monday!  The BBTB2 challenge for the next two weeks is a sports theme.  My project for this challenge takes me back to what I'm calling the "before times" (meaning pre-covid).  One of the last big gatherings I attended was a Super Bowl party, where the Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl last February.  Looking back at the pictures of all of my extended family watching the game together and celebrating really brought home how life has changed.

I had so much fun making this layout.  The base was this football paper I had in the stash.  I used the CTMH You Are Here image collection for the football helmets.  Then came the fun part, using my cricut to print and cut svgs I found of each team's helmet logo and a football svgs that had the final score.  I also discovered that there is a free NFL Chiefs font, which I was able to download and cut with my cricut.  And when I googled to see if there was a font for the 49ers, I was able to find a font called Clarendon Bold that is close to what they use for their branded gear.  I cut each of the team names with their respective fonts.  Love being able to personalize the fonts like this for my project!  You can see the rest of the design team's sports themed projects over at BBTB2 and link up your own project to share.

Play Ball layout

Happy Monday!  Our BBTB2 challenge this week is to feature baseball or other spring sports on a project.  This was very timely, as I'm going to a KC Royals game for Nurse Appreciation Day with a bunch of my co-workers in a few weeks.  We are having a pre-game tailgate beforehand with lots of BBQ goodness (pretty much all tailgating in Kansas City involves yummy BBQ,  lol), so I know lots of fun pictures will be taken.  I am looking forward to it!

For my baseball themed layout, I used the Sports Mania cartridge for the title and 3 small balls decorating the other page.  The baseball trim along the sides is actually washi tape, not paper, that I got from Doodlebug.  And I made my journaling spot round to echo the shape of a baseball.  So we've got baseball going on all over this layout, all ready for some pictures!  The design team has projects featuring several spring sports, so go take a look over at BBTB2 and you can link a project up too.

Football layout

Happy Monday!  We have a football themed challenge over at BBTB2 this week...cue the Friday Night Lights!  I've spent time on the bleachers this fall cheering on our high school team and watching Son#2 perform with the marching band, so I have a lot of pictures to scrap!

My football layout below could be customized for any school or NFL team by changing the colors.  I found this awesome football field background cut on the Sports Mania cartridge to get my layout started.  Our school colors are purple and gold, so my photo mats and lettering use those colors.  The Varsity Letters font gave that "school" feeling font for the high school initials.  And then of course I had to add a football!  While my layout will be of the band marching their half-time show on the field, this would work well for sports pictures if you have an athlete or get to attend an NFL or college game. Hope you will join us with a project and go see the design team projects over at BBTB2!

Edited to add:  The background is the Sports Mania cartridge, not the All Sports.

Friday Night Lights layout (for BBTB2)

Happy Monday!  Our BBTB2 challenge this week is football-I had to mentally change gears!  We've been obsessed with baseball here in Kansas City this October, watching our Royals in the World Series last week, so I had to get back in the football groove.  Friday nights in the fall means high school football in our neck of the woods, so I have a football layout for pics of Son#2 and the marching band at our high school football game.

I used the Artbooking cartridge for the football, banner, and the word football.  The narrow font is Boys Will Be Boys and the wide chunky font is from the Robotz cartridge.  I used a green background to get the football field look, along with the school colors of purple and gold for the accents.  The funny thing is  that my high school colors were also purple and gold, just like the high school my sons attend.  It's very nostalgic being at the games surrounded by a sea of purple and gold!  Hope you will join us with a football themed project this week over at BBTB2!

Football bookmark (for BBTB2)

Do you have a football fan in your life?  Our amazing DT leader Susan has selected a man-themed football challenge for us at BBTB2 this week.  As the Kansas City Chiefs have started the season at an improbably amazing 9-0, enthusiasm is running high here in KC and everyone has broken out their  Chiefs fan gear!  I made a bookmark, which Son #3 requested to use at school, for my football project.  I am planning to put a number on the player as soon as Son#3 decides WHICH player he wants it to be.    You can check out the rest of the design team's man projects over at BBTB2 and join our challenge!

The bookmark itself is from Plaintain Schoolbook, cut at 6 inches (along with the shadow).  I used the Roly Poly font from Plaintain Schoolbook for my Go Chiefs.  The adorable little football player is from Everyday Paperdolls, along with the goal and grass.  I added some twine to finish it off.  Superquick and Son #3 was happy!

Sports Stadium layout

Son#2 got to go on a field trip with his school to the major league football stadium this fall.  We got a tour, including the locker room where the team goes on game day!  We also got to go out on the field!  Boy does the stadium look big from the field!  It was all pretty cool, even though our team has been so bad this year that it was painful to watch a game and the coach and GM just got fired.  There is always next year, but I was ashamed to wear any fan gear in public!

Sports Mania was the game-winning cartridge for my layout!   (Couldn't help myself-had to get a sports pun in there!) The football helmet and football border on the journal box turned out really fun, I thought.  The scalloped square is from Accent Essentials.  The title font is Birthday Bash.

Play Ball layout

Major league baseball screams summertime to me-and I got to go to a game on a field trip last month with Son#2 and his classmates for Student Day at the ballpark!  Complete with tailgating, no less!   Most of the kids, including my son, had never been to a big league game and it was so fun to watch them take in the experience.    The crown from CM This and That kind of reminded me of the Royals scoreboard and logo and I tried to make it look like the stadium scoreboard.  the baseball and bat are also from This and That.  The glove and batting helmet are from the accessories on Everyday Paperdolls.  I rarely cut the dolls, but the accessories are a gold mine of great cuts.
