thank you cards

Happy Monday!  I am hosting the challenge over at BBTB2 this week, and I selected a thank you card theme.  I've used up all my thank you cards in the stash after Christmas, so this will help me get restocked.  I got several amazing craft related gifts for Christmas, including some awesome Stampin Up stamp sets and thinlit dies, as well as my new Cricut Explore Air 2.  I had so much fun working with my new supplies on all the cards below, especially learning to use Cricut Design Space with my Explore to attach cursive letters.  Our design team over at BBTB2 has shared lots of great projects and you can link up your own thank you anytime over the next two weeks.

thanks a bunch card

Happy Monday!  It's been a good week because my college kid is back home for the summer-it's good to have all the chicks back in the nest, lol!  Although he wasn't far away, I missed seeing him every day.  My high schoolers are finishing up finals, but still have school til the end of May to make up all the days missed due to snow and cold.  Needless to say, they are beyond ready to be done with school!!!!

Our BBTB2 challenge this week is to showcase flowers-because after all, it's May and the flowers have started blooming!  I used the Walk in My Garden cartridge to make this super simple thank you card.  All the cuts, including the sentiment, are from the cartridge.  I liked the flowers against the woodgrain paper!  Hope you will scope out the projects at BBTB2 and play along and have a wonderful week!

Penguins

Happy Monday!  It's not such a happy Monday at my house, as the flu has found us.  I knew it was only a matter of time for the kids, as it began circulating around school district....and the hospital I work at has had very high levels of flu activity and been very busy.  At work at least I am protected by mountains of isolation gear.  I haven't got it yet but I can feel the invisible ticking clock of doom as the inevitable germ here at home breaks through my cloud of hand sanitizer, lol!  One news article I read this week said flu levels were high in every state except Hawaii, with the peak level here in Missouri.  I think that means I should go to Hawaii immediately!  For my health, of course.

Our BBTB2 challenge this week is penguins.  Who doesn't love penguins-they always look so cute and adorable at the zoo!  I did a thank you card featuring this guy from Joys of the Season.  Since it's a thank you for one of the teens to use, I thought a little text-speak would be on point (or maybe it's on fleek-I never get the difference), so UR Cool as my teens would say to someone providing an awesome gift.  We have lots of adorable penguin cards over at BBTB2 and hope you will take the opportunity to make something too!

Coffee/Tea Hi friend card

Happy Monday!  Our BBTB2 theme this week is coffee or tea.  While I don't drink coffee,  I deeply love tea (Constant Comment and Earl Grey are my favorites)!  I used an older cartridge favorite, Lyrical Letters, to make my simple card because I loved this cute little tea cup with "hi friend" attached!  I added a few hearts too (from the Sweethearts phrase on LL), because having tea while catching up with friends always makes my heart happy!  A little pen work around the edges to finish it off and this card was done!  It was also super fast to make, which is always a plus!

thank U card

I'm still feeling under the weather, but looking forward to some Thanksgiving goodness this week!  Our BBTB2 challenge this week is to use the word thanks on a thanksgiving themed project.  There are several people in our lives who deserve some special thanks at this Thanksgiving time of year, and I send a little note of appreciation each year at Thanksgiving.  My basic card design was sparked by something I saw on Pinterest, but in my Nyquil haze, I cannot find it to put a link (I'll try to find it later this week).  I used the Birthday Bash cartridge to cut out the card shape in kraft paper and also for the font for the big letter U.  For the thank part, I used the Sweetheart cartridge phrase thank you (using just the thank part).  The inside, which I forgot to photograph (I'm very very medicated) says "for all that you do".  The yellow candies are from Doodlebug.  Over at BBTB2, the designers have some ideas for you and you can play along and link up a project.  I hope you are able to enjoy the holiday and spend some time with those you love this week!  Happy Thanksgiving!

Tea-rific thank you card (for BBTB2)

Happy Monday!  It is another week of what I've dubbed "May Madness", with end of school events EVERY single night.  Can it just be June already?  But for BBTB2, we have only good things in May, such as our teapot/teacup challenge this week.  I made a "Tea-rific" thank you card, using my favorite  teapot from the CM This and That cartridge.  I have a coffee and tea themed stamp set from Stampin Up that had the "tea-rific" stamp and the cute little stack of cups I stamped inside.  Hope you brew up something cute and join our challenge this week-I know I need to make about half a dozen teacher thank you cards before the end of the school year!

Flower thank you card (for BBTB2) plus a bonus Disney layout

Happy Monday!  I get to host the BBTB2 challenge this week and I selected flowers, since the tulips, iris, and daffodils are blooming here in KC.  There are so many cricut flowers to choose from that this should be lots of fun-check the BBTB2 sidebar for the rules!  I actually have two projects with flowers to share today, with this springy flower card being the first.  My happy little flower is from one of my favorite cartridges, Doodlecharms. I embossed the leaves with the Swiss dots embossing folder to add a little texture.   I was inspired by this fun Doodlebug flower filled paper!  The design team over at BBTB2 has a whole bunch of flowers for you to look at for inspiration and we'd love to have you link up a project this week!

Thankful card (for BBTB2)

Happy Monday!  It's been a rainy weekend here in KC and I've been cozied up in my basement enjoying some crafty time.  Our BBTB2 challenge this week is Giving Thankds.  I used the CM Cheerful Seasons cartridge, one of my faves, for the pumpkin and thankful sentiment on my card.  The BBTB2 team has some gorgeous projects you can look at and then link up a project of your own!

And Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!  I'm looking extra forward to Thanksgiving this year because I don't have to work a shift in the ICU over the Thanksgiving holiday this year for a change.  So bring on the turkey and pie!  My husband is smoking a turkey and my mom and I are making pies and our relatives are coming over to celebrate with us.  I hope you all have a wonderful holiday full of delicious eats and the opportunity to reflect on the blessings of the year!

a melon thanks card

I was having a little fun making some thank you cards tonight and decided to link one up with the Fantabulous Cricut punny challenge.  Cards with a good pun are my favorite type to give and receive!  I used the Doodlecharms cartridge for my watermelon and the bg paper is from Doodlebug.  I've had that stamp so long that I have NO idea where it came from!

I love U this much thank you card (for Exploring Cricut)

Happy 2014!  I'm hoping for lots of crafty time this year, curled up in my happy place in the basement! Today is my day to share the daily project at Exploring Cricut and I have a winter thank you card for you.  We've got a lot of thank yous to send out after Christmas!

My snowy themed thank you uses the Winter Frolic for the cute little sledder and Artbooking cartridge for the two snowflakes.   My snowflake embossing folder made a snowy white background.  The sentiment on the front is from the Paper Smooches Frosty Fellas stamp set and the inside sentiment is from a My Pink Stamper set.   I was able to use scraps for the cute little sledder, which always makes me very happy!  I was inspired by a Christmas themed card that used the embossed snowflake background that I saw somewhere on pinterest.

Under construction card

Son#3 needed a thank you for a lego set he received, so I put this card together with some lego stickers I had left over from another project  that were in the stash.  They are really fun and look like actual legos!  The Under Construction stamp is from the My Pink Stamper set Boy Crazy.  I'm linking this to the Celebrate the Occasion challenge this week to make a thank you card.

Too Cool thank you

Son #3 requested a thank you card (for his Christmas gifts) that "looks like a lego toy".  Hmmm, a challenge.   The dump truck on Boys Will Be Boys sort of gave me a lego feel and I added some road from Everyday Paperdolls.  Boy cards are just harder to make somehow (possibly not being a boy is the problem?).   However, he was very happy with it.

Skating card

I've got a few more thank you cards for Christmas gifts to make and this one was inspired by the BBTB2 challenge this week to use the skate from Winter Woodland on a project.  I had to go with the skate from CM Cheerful Seasons, however, as my sons felt the Winter Woodland skate (which has the laces tied in a bow) looked too "girly" for their thank yous.  Whatever!  Since I still used some pink, I'm not sure they will be entirely happy with the finished product anyway, but I liked it!

Edited to add:  the verdict was mixed from the boys this morning, who announced the card was very pretty, but had too much pink.  I think they had more of a black and gray hockey skate look in mind!  It was comical!
