Birthday Card with old SU sets

Happy Thursday!  Sharing a quick birthday card I made for a friend, using some old SU stamp sets from my stash.  Sometimes I get distracted by my newer products and forget to get out the older goodies and play with them.  My hubby and I have just returned from a week of vacation and I'm feeling the urge to be crafty (I found an amazing scrapbook store on the trip and stocked up on some new paper!).  Hope you all have a good week!

Somebunny loves you layout

Happy Monday!  It's feeling like spring, finally!  The first daffodils have opened up their blooms in my flowerbeds and my boys were home on spring break last week, making my heart happy!  It's been warm enough to be outside and my husband and I went hiking in one of the state parks and soaked up the sunshine.  I even got to have a craft day with my mom and friends!  I think this week will be slightly less awesome....but you never know, right?  It may surprise me!  So on to crafty things....

Easter is coming up soon and our challenge over at the BBTB2 blog this week is an Easter theme.  All the images on my layout below are from the Cricut Artistry cartridge, including the adorable bunny.  I copied the general placement of the pictures on this layout from a design I saw somewhere, maybe in a CTMH catalog?  I've used this before on a layout several years ago, and now I can't remember where I saw it originally.  That's the beauty of a good sketch-you can adapt it to multiple projects with different themes easily.  The design team has projects shared over at the BBTB2 and you can link up a new Cricut Easter themed project there over the next two weeks.

Just a little bonus pic:
I had a craft day with my mom and several friends this week and we had a blast.  Mom and I were making thank you cards for my niece's wedding shower.  While we didn't use my cricut for these particular cards, I thought I'd post a pic anyway.  We cribbed all these ideas from Pinterest (gotta love Pinterest), so they are not original designs.  We made a total of 30 thank you cards using some of my Stampin Up goodies and had so much fun!  It's good to laugh with friends :)

happy to be hiking out in the sunshine in t-shirts!

thank you cards

Happy Monday!  I am hosting the challenge over at BBTB2 this week, and I selected a thank you card theme.  I've used up all my thank you cards in the stash after Christmas, so this will help me get restocked.  I got several amazing craft related gifts for Christmas, including some awesome Stampin Up stamp sets and thinlit dies, as well as my new Cricut Explore Air 2.  I had so much fun working with my new supplies on all the cards below, especially learning to use Cricut Design Space with my Explore to attach cursive letters.  Our design team over at BBTB2 has shared lots of great projects and you can link up your own thank you anytime over the next two weeks.

Happy Monday!  It was a crazy weather week in Kansas City, with Polar Vortex cold (do you capitalize Polar Vortex?  I feel like I should.....).  and temps into the negative numbers midweek and then a nearly 75 degree temperature swing into balmy for the weekend!  Of course I had to work all weekend and did not get to enjoy the warm days!  My teens were thrilled to have school cancelled for a day last week due to the extreme cold, leaving me nostalgically remembering the thrill of the snow day as a kid.  It's most unfortunate adult life does not get cancelled for snow and cold days.  I'm NOT a fan of temps below zero and wind chills way below zero, so I am really longing for spring.  I did some crafting while huddled up in front a space heater in my fleece PJs one night and found myself only wanting to stamp things with flowers!

One of my Christmas gifts was a stamp set from Stampin Up called Abstract Impressions.  I love art from the Impressionist painters and this stamp set kind of gives me an Impressionist vibe.  I have made a bunch of cards with it already and I'm sharing two here.

Butterflies

Happy Monday!  I am hosting our BBTB2 challenge this week!  I am feeling all about spring, so I selected Tiny Winged Things as our challenge theme. This could be butterflies, bees, dragonflies…whatever moves you to create! I used the sweet butterfly from my beloved Doodlecharms cartridge for this birthday card.  The background scalloped circle and circle are from the Create A Critter cartridge.  Because this card will be for a teenage girl, I used the So Social stamp set from Stampin Up for the @birthdaygirl and #awesomeness sentiments.  (It's all about the hashtags and social media with my teens and their friends, lol!)  My card is happy and bright for spring and quick to make!  Join us by linking up a tiny winged project over at BBTB2 and see what goodness the design team has for you!

holly Christmas card

I love holly and always make at least one Christmas card design that has a holly leaf on it.  So here is this year's holly, from the CM Cheerful Seasons cartridge.  The background paper is from Simple Stories (isn't is so awesome?) and the holly paper is from the Theresa Collins Christmas Cottage collection, using all the layers and shadow.  I added some twine from my stash and the inside sentiment is from SU.

Fa la la Christmas card

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!  We are celebrating today, as I had to work at the hospital yesterday.  The turkey is in the smoker now and my pies are baking!!!!

This gorgeous music paper was part of the Theresa Collins christmas paper that I got, which inspired my card.  I made it at our Christmas card making party.  The fa la las just started running through my head and wouldn't leave.  The hilarious part is that then a phrase from another Christmas carol also got stuck in my head, and none of us could remember which carol it was from until my friend arrived and looked it up on google!  I was SO relieved because otherwise it would have come to me in the middle of the night and woken me up.  My goofy brain is annoying like that!  On to the cricut info:  the fa la la and flakes are all from one cut on the  CM Tis the Season cartridge.  I'm going to link this to the CardzTV challenge "Speaking of Christmas".

Owl christmas cheer card

The little owl from Create A Critter 2 is the star of the Christmas card!  The Christmas ornament is also from CAC2.  Echo Park has a great collection called This & That Christmas and the plaid paper is from that line (I LOVE it!!!).  I always like to finish off the inside of a card as well as the outside, so there is a double mat with red and cream and a scrap of the plaid paper.  I also inked the edges of all the photo mats and the card edges with brown chalk ink because it really adds that little extra something.  The inside sentiment stamp is an older one from SU and the outside sentiment is from an Ali Edwards set.

Hey Cupcake birthday card

Well, I started to work on making a birthday card, as we have birthday parties coming up for two of my sons.  But the card just went somewhere girly while I was working on it and turned into a completely different card!!!!  Ever have that happen?  Where the card you end up making is NOT what you planned?  The basic card design was scrap lifted from Mary at Cardz TV, who has made a couple of adorable cards from the Teddy Bear Parade cartridge with this basic layering design.  The cupcake is from Create A Critter and was inspired by the cute cupcake paper from my DCWV Sweet stack.

Wedding card

We are going to a wedding this weekend, so I made the card to go with our gift using the bride's colors.  The bride and groom are huge MU Tigers fans (met at a football game in fact), and the wedding colors are black, gold, and white-the MU colors!   I'm told they are even coming down the aisle at the end to the Tiger fight song!  We'll see if that turns out to be true.  (The bride has taught two of my boys in elementary school.)  I used the Sweethearts cartridge for the dress and rings and several of my embossing folders to give some texture, which brought out the dress a little more.  Stay tuned for the wedding gift, which I will post another day (I made a recipe book).

Teacher thank you card

I'm trying to get my end of year teacher thank you cards done now, so you'll be seeing a few more next week too!  I enjoy the whole card-making process so much more when I work on  things ahead of time!  Not much of a last minute kind of girl here.   The CM Cheerful Seasons cart was the inspiration for this one (I was just browsing the handbook) and the sentiment just popped into my head and I printed it on the computer.  So what do you think?  I'm usually not very good at coming up with my own sentiments, but I liked this.  I hope the teacher does too!

Chirp Up! card

The SOUS challenge this last  week was April Showers, which I interpreted as a card to cheer someone up (this one is going in the stash).  I took the cute little bird with the umbrella from Create a Critter and used the "chirp up" sentiment (which I've been dying to use on something because it's just so darn cute!).

You're the bee's knees! card

My Mom's new embossing folder inspired this card!  I cut the bee's from Kate's ABCs and put them over this flower and vine background and used a sentiment from the My Pink Stamper Buggy Punnies set on the outside.   This will be for a teacher thank you card, since I know next month's end of school will just sneak up on me!  It doesn't seem possible that there are only 5 more weeks of school!  I'm going to link this to the BBTB2 challenge this week to use a bumblebee or ladybug on a project.

Happy Birthday card (with Birthday Bash)

The BBTB2 challenge this week is to make a birthday card, using a balloon from any cricut cart.   I was excited about this, as a card with birthday balloons is unisex and appropriate for any age-good things to have in the stash for that unexpected birthday (like when your child informs you at 10:00 PM that he needs a birthday card for tomorrow-not saying that ever happened here, but....).  The paper is from the Basic Grey Life is a Party collection.

Sending love your way card

This card is for a long-time friend who recently moved to another state that I won't get to see for awhile.  I used Accent Essentials for the top note cut and stamped my balloon image on it.  The paper and stamps are from Stampin Up.  I'm linking this to The Paper Variety challenge this week to make a card and matching envelope.  I like to decorate my envelope to match my cards, so I used a different stamp from the set on the envelope and added a little something to the envelope flap for extra pretty sweetness

This card is going to be for my sister's birthday, later this month.  I used the ice cream sundae from Kate's ABCs and the paper is from the Stampin Up Cheerful Treat collection (it's yummy!).   I'm linking it to the My Pink Stamper blog hop challenge to make a birthday card.

fabulous friend card (no cricut)

This card is sweet and simple, using supplies I got from Stampin Up's salebration recently.  The cardstock base is calypso coral.  The printed paper is from the Everyday Enchanted collection-kind of distressed and vintage looking-I'm loving it!  The ribbon and ink are pool blue.  Isn't that ruffled ribbon cute?  I used the oval and scalloped oval punches for the sentiment stamp, which is from Stampin Up.

Hey, chicka card

I made a card with stuff from my new box of Stampin Up goodies, for the BBTB2 challenge this week to use bunnies or chickies on a project.  It's so fun when you have new supplies, don't you think?  Retail therapy-cheaper than actual therapy!  The stamps are from a My Pink Stamper set called Tweetie-Hoo Puns and the cute little chick hatching is from Simply Charmed.

Sweet Tweet card

The Fed Ex man arrived with a big box of Stampin Up goodies a few days ago-I felt like a little kid in a candy store!  What to open first?  This card uses paper and ribbon from my new stash of goodies.   The paper pack is called Everyday Enchanted and has a vintage, distressed look to it that is really pretty!  The ribbon is pool blue and has ruffles on the edges.  I think I'm in love!  The birdhouse and bird are from the CM Cheerful Seasons cartridge-I'm feeling like spring, since my daffodils have just started blooming!  I'm linking this to the My Craft Spot challenge this week "For the Birds".

I'm drawing for my blog candy winner tomorrow, so last chance to comment on the 50 followers post to win a My Pink Stamper set!

Striped Christmas cards

Love this paper!!!  You can't see it very well in the pictures, but it is also glittered on the red stripes and is so pretty!  The striped paper on these two cards is from SU called Holly Berry Bouquet.  The scallop punch and stamps are also from SU.
