Sweet Summer Treats layout

Happy Monday!  Is it hot and muggy where you live?  It sure is here in Missouri, making it the perfect time for sweet summer treats of all kinds to cool off!  Sweet summer treats is our challenge theme this week at BBTB2.  My ALL the desserts layout has a funny story:  we went on a cruise two summers ago, and the kids were thrilled to discover you could order more than one dessert for dinner (in fact, you could order ALL the desserts if you wanted).  Well, with three teenage boys, I think we sampled all the desserts every single meal.  There was an abundance of ice cream, cakes, and chocolate treats consumed!  Pretty soon the waiters just stopped asking and brought us everything, lol!  There are some pretty funny dessert pics that will go on this layout, which I accented with the adorable ice cream and popsicles from the Simply Charmed cartridge.  I thought this Echo Park dessert paper was most appropriate!  There are lots of yummy projects to see over at BBTB2 and you can link up your own project, as always.

4th of July wall hanging

Happy Monday!  Our BBTB2 challenge this week is fireworks, as today is the 4th of July!  We are traveling to Denver today (on our way to vacay in Estes Park, CO) and will get to celebrate with family there tonight.  I'm looking forward to this upcoming week of hiking and horseback riding in Rocky Mountain National Park and have a whole stack of new books to read while sitting on the deck looking at the mountains!  And there is supposed to be a hot tub overlooking Lake Estes to soak in…it's gonna be a great week!  So switching focus to crafty things, below is my BBTB2 project, which we've been enjoying for a few weeks.

I made a wall hanging for my foyer, using Simply Charmed for the words and A Child's Year for the 4th of July images.  It turned out just how I imagined it (which is not always the case, lol) and is framed and hanging up on the wall.  I tried photographing it in the frame, but the reflections off the glass did not make for a decent pic so you are seeing it unframed.  Hope you will check out all the cool projects from the design team and link up a new project of your own!

Wearing of the Green-St Pats Parade layout

Happy Monday!  We have a St. Patrick's Day theme at BBTB2 this week.  And guess what? It so happens that Son#2 and I are leaving for New York City tomorrow and will be marching with his high school band in the St. Patrick's Day Parade!  Seeing the sights in the Big Apple should blow our minds.  Toto, we're not in Kansas City anymore, to paraphrase Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz!  (For the record, most of Kansas City is actually in Missouri, not Kansas, so I can't quote Dorothy exactly.)

My layout for the parade pictures uses the adorable leprechauns from Simply Charmed and the clover border found on the Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge.  My title font is from CM Stork's Delivery and I did a little doodling on the letters.  This paper is from a super-old DCWV pad in the stash, but was perfect for St. Patrick's Day!  Go see what kind of magic the design team over at BBTB2 have put together and I hope you have some fun, wear some green, and have a very lucky week!

Be Mine card

Happy Monday!  I hope you had a happy Valentine Day yesterday but today is the real holiday in my book because the Valentine candy left over in the stores is on sale!!!!  Our BBTB2 challenge this week is to celebrate National Gumdrop Day by using some kind of candy on a project.  I'm going to have to confess I am REALLY not fond of gumdrops…so I picked my favorite kind of candy instead-those candy valentine hearts with the sayings.  I am a total sucker for those things.  We can't even keep them in the house because I will eat the whole bag.  In one sitting.   My candy card below uses the candy hearts and title from the Simply Charmed cartridge.   I hope you will make some kind of sweet candy-licious project and share it with us over at BBTB2 and do go take a look at the design team's yummy creations!

Ice Cream projects

Happy Monday!  Did you know it's National Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast day?  I fully support this holiday-in fact I could probably support it every day!  It needs more publicity.  I'm pretty sure it's not on the Weight Watchers plan though….unfortunately.  Our BBTB2 challenge this week, as you might have guessed, is to use an ice cream cut.  I have a few ice cream projects…..although not a full 31 flavors worth, LOL!  Check out the delicious projects from the design team over at BBTB2 and link up a project of your own!

Project #1

This layout was for some fun ice cream pictures on our cruise this summer, using Simply Charmed for the title, ice cream cone, and popsicle and Elegant Edges for the scalloped journal box.

This layout  uses the Suburbia cartridge for all the cuts, including the font.  My picture came out a little dark-it's easier to see the font in better lighting (it's a really pretty cursive).  I LOVE the jukebox cut!  My husband and I are big fans of root beer floats and I thought the ice cream cut looked like a float.

Santa layout

Happy Monday!  It's almost Christmas and there is lots of baking and wrapping going on at my house!  The kids are finally on winter break from school and my hubby took vacation to coincide with their break, so it's officially pajama day today!  I'm having a hard time getting the Christmas cookies baked for the big family Christmas Eve party though, as the kids keep taking "just one".

Our BBTB2 challenge for this week is for Santa to find his way onto a project, since he's coming to town this week, LOL!  I made a layout for some of the upcoming Christmas pictures.  My super happy Santa and his chimney are from the Simply Charmed cartridge and the title font is from the Artistry cartridge.  I'm really liking that font and using it on everything lately.  Santa has been busy over at BBTB2 as well, so go check out the other projects from the design team.  You can link one up as well. I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas this year!

Fall layout

Happy Monday!  It's been a busy weekend at my house, with the homecoming dance for the high schoolers and a big extended family BBQ along with smores over the fire pit.  I love fall!  The BBTB2 theme this week is to use a turkey.   Perfect timing, sinceI have a number of shots of the kids eating gigantic turkey legs at the fall festival!  I used the Simply Charmed cartridge for Mr. Turkey and the cornucopia on my layout.  The gorgeous print paper is from the Carta Bella Fall Blessings collection.  I scrap lifted the basic layout design from this project I saw on pinterest, although I adapted it a bit to suit.  The rest of the design team over at BBTB2 have some great projects for you to check out as well!

I love Summer layout

Happy Monday!  I'm kinda tired after working nights this weekend and also driving Son#1 to strings camp another day this weekend (it's several hours away :() and I need industrial strength caffeine today!!!!  I'm thinking it's a 6 pack diet Coke kind of day, lol!  And Marching Band camp starts for Son#2 first thing this morning-guess summer vacay is really over, sad face.

Our BBTB2 challenge this week is to use a watermelon die cut-perfect for summer, right?  My layout has a whole bunch of sweet summer images from the Simply Charmed cartridge, including the title.  The print paper is from the Doodlebug Sunkissed collection (really awesome and I've used pretty much every scrap of it!).  The design team at BBTB2 have rounded up a variety of tasty watermelon cuts to inspire you to make something-take a look!

I love summer layout

Today is my day for the daily project at Exploring Cricut!  This tasty summer layout was inspired by the yummy watermelon background paper by Imaginescence, although I think it would look cute on a solid green or red background too.  Doesn't it look delicious?  (Just makes me crave some melon!)  I used the Simply Charmed cartridge for the title and watermelons and Elegant Edges to make the journal box.  This is for my stash of family picnic photos that need a home.

Candy Cane Merry Christmas layout (for Exploring Cricut)

It's my day for the daily project at Exploring Cricut and I've got a yummilicious peppermint and candy cane layout for Christmas, all inspired by this Echo Park Tis the Season striped paper.  It just made me think of eating bits of the stolen candy canes from the Christmas tree (there usually aren't any left on our tree by Christmas…hence the stolen part!).   I love this cute little candy cane and peppermint from the Simply Charmed cartridge!   The title is from Simply Charmed also.  The stickers on the journal box are from the Echo Park paper pack.

Peppermint gift basket (for BBTB2)

Our marvelous DT leader Susan has challenged us to make a holiday gift container for our BBTB2 challenge this week.  I don't have many cartridges that make 3D items, but I found this cute little gift basket on the Sweet Treats cartridge.  I decorated it with peppermint cuts from the Simply Charmed cartridge and I've filled it up with real peppermints for a sweet holiday treat!   Can't you imagine leaving this on a co-workers desk for a delicious surprise?  I decided to make the handle from ribbon instead of paper so I could jam lots of peppermints in there.  I also added some stickle to my peppermint, mostly because it's just so darn fun and sparkly!

merry christmas with simply charmed

Give Thanks layout

Thanksgiving is just around the corner-well almost!  Are you a turkey or ham family?  We go back and forth, but last year my husband smoked a turkey and it was the absolute best turkey I've ever had!  So it is definitely turkey again this year.   So when I saw the BBTB2 challenge to use a turkey, it was time to make my Thanksgiving scrapbook page.   I used the stretched turkey from Stretch Your Imagination, and he turned out looking mighty fine.   I also cut some leaves from SYI.   Two use the Silhouette feature over the blackout leaf cut, which I thought looked pretty.  The layered"Give Thanks" title is from the Phrases cart.

And the story behind the pie, which is from Simply Charmed (without the smiley face part) is that my extended family LOVES pie, so all family gatherings and holidays include lots of pie.  We even have birthday pies instead of cake sometimes!   When I saw the Pause Dream Enjoy challenge to do a food/beverage project, I added my cricut pie to represent all the delicious pie we will be eating over Thanksgiving.

Hey, chicka card

I made a card with stuff from my new box of Stampin Up goodies, for the BBTB2 challenge this week to use bunnies or chickies on a project.  It's so fun when you have new supplies, don't you think?  Retail therapy-cheaper than actual therapy!  The stamps are from a My Pink Stamper set called Tweetie-Hoo Puns and the cute little chick hatching is from Simply Charmed.

baby book-St. Patricks day page

Here's another page for the baby's first holidays album I'm making as a gift.  I used Simply Charmed for the leprechaun and pot of gold and the shamrock is from A Child's Year.  (The other pages I've made so far can be found under the mini album tag.)  I'm linking this to the challenge at BBTB2 this week to use a shamrock and the challenge at Fantabulous Cricut to use a shamrock and the color green.

baby book-Easter page

Here is the Easter page for the baby book I'm making (as a gift for someone).  The other pages I've done so far can be found under the mini album tag.  The bunny baby on Simply Charmed is just too cute!!!  The eggs and basket are from Doodlecharms and the funny bunny title is from 3 Birds on Parade.  I'm mainly using Doodlecharms and Simply Charmed for the book, so that the pages will have a similar feel.  I'm going to link this to the Fantabulous Cricut challenge this week to use purple, green, and turquoise on a project.

Don't forget to check out the post below this for my 50 followers blog candy give-away.

It's Your Bird-day! card

This card is for a blog friend's birthday, so STOP reading now Hanneke, or you will see your card (since it may still be in the mail)!  I made a shaped card (for the Cricut Creative Cutter Room challenge) from Birthday Bash, and used one of the cute birdies from 3 Birds on Parade (my current cartridge obsession).  The sentiment stamps are from the My Pink Stamper set Punny-licious.  I also did a little stamping on the envelope and broke out my colored pencils, so the outside would have a pretty surprise as well as the inside!  That stamp is from a Stampin Up set I've had for a long time called A Flower for all Seasons.

Life's Sweet birthday card

This birthday card is for the Exploring Cricut challenge "It's so Sweet".  I pulled out some paper from my Party Time Stack by My Mind's Eye and rounded up stamps from three different sets (guess I was in the mood for some variety) for some ice cream cone sweetness from Simply Charmed.

baby book-"My First Holidays" (first few pages)

So I'm working on a Baby's First Holidays mini album as a gift for a baby shower (which is awhile away, thank goodness), and I got the first few pages done.  The person this is going to is not a scrapper, so I made the mini 6x8 so she can easily put in 4x6 pictures on the photo mats.  (I've found non-scrappers generally don't print any size photos other than the standard 4x6.)  I'm sort of planning it on the fly as I go, but I am mainly going to use Doodlecharms and Simply Charmed.  I'm sure some other carts will sneak in though, before I'm finished.  (Actually, I just realized the Snow Days is from 3 Birds on Parade!)

I'm going to link this to the challenge at SOUS this week:  "You've Got Mail", since the Valentine page fits perfectly, with the envelope and mailbox for baby's first valentine.

Be Mine, Valentine

OK, I broke my resolve not to buy any new Valentine paper, but it was only 1 piece!  Does that really count?  It was so cute I couldn't resist AND it was on sale.   I used several carts:  Simply Charmed for the "be mine" and mailboxes, Kate's ABC's for the "Valentine", and Sweethearts for the cute little dog and cat.   This layout will be for the pictures of the upcoming Valentine Party at the elementary school, where the kids will exchange valentines with their classmates.
