Ride'em Cowboy layout

Today is my turn for the daily project at Exploring Cricut!  I made a western themed layout for you today, for some pictures of my fellas at Silver Dollar City last summer.  I used the Old West cartridge for all the cuts except the barn, which is from Create A Critter.  I especially was taken with the wood grain frame cut for my journal box!  My paper has been in my stash so long that I have NO idea where I got it.

new iPod layout

I finished another catch-up layout that has been buried under the pile:  from Son#1's birthday last year, where he got an iPod touch.  I used a bunch of carts on this one to show all the party fun, as he and his cousins played games and also had jam session playing their instruments and dancing.  The iPod cut is from Paisley, as well as the words crazy and jammin'. The font is from Robotz, the deck of cards from Old West, and the violin from A Child's Year.  The wonderful background paper is an older line from Basic Grey called Life of the Party.

Wahoo! layout

The paper doll cartridges (Paperdoll Dress Up and Paperdoll Teen Scene) helped me make this layout for the last pics from our trip to the 1800s themed fall festival.  I cut the Teen Scene boy cowboy and Indian, imagining them getting together to listen to music or trade in the 1800s town square.  (Son#1 was performing in the square on his fiddle.)  The teepee is from Paperdoll Dress Up and the guitar and title are from Old West.  The stamps on the journal box are from a set I won at PauseDreamEnjoy Challenges!  It is called Buffalo Spring, by Mark's Finest Papers.  I was so excited when I opened the package-thanks Janis!-because I had a project for them right away :)

Country Life layout

The Fantabulous Cricut challenge this week is "Down on the Farm" and I had some pictures that fit the theme, so I decided to play along.  We were recently at a fall festival where Son#1 was one of the musicians.  The festival is held at a park re-creation of an 1885 town.  There were barns and animals, of course, along with homesteads, saloon, blacksmith shop, etc.  I used the County Fair cartridge for most of the layout, except for the Good Times title, which is the Old West Flourish font.

Lucky Silver Mine layout

While at Silver Dollar City (an old time theme park), we ate at the Lucky Silver Mine restaurant for lunch.  The fun part here is that you walk through a 60 ft "mine shaft" to get in and it's all underground with a mine theme, complete with lanterns and pickaxes!  Now that you have the background, you can see what I did with the layout.  I tore some paper on one side to be the side of the mine (the walls of the place were rough cement to look like a mine) and added some lanterns.  The checked paper reminded me of the tablecloths.  The miner is Grumpy the dwarf from Happily Ever After, but I trimmed off his stocking cap and added a hat from Old West.  The ore cart is also from Old West, but I modified it a bit also.   The lanterns (which I also added a layer to) and shovel are from Happily Ever After.  The font is Old West.  It all came out pretty fun and I was really happy with it!  I LOVE the wooden background paper from My Mind's Eye!!!!

San Angel Inn (Disney) layout

This layout is for some pictures we took while at Epcot's World Showcase last summer, where we ate lunch at the San Angel Inn in Mexico.  It was very interesting browsing in the different countries at Epcot.  In true Disney over the top fashion, the restaurant has a pyramid at nightfall with occasional storms, plus a boat ride that goes through the restaurant by the pyramid.  Lots to look at while eating-the kids were fascinated!  I used several carts on this layout, trying to re-create the look of the boat ride.

Boots & Chaps

So I'm on a roll with the western theme and decided to do a few more pics from the Pony Express museum with my super cool Sasparilla cowboy paper.  The base paper has a bandanna print-how fun is that?  And the blue jeans paper!    I used County Fair for the title and Old West for the rest of the cuts.  Oh and I forgot to add, the blue jean border under the pics is from Elegant Edges.

Saddle Up layout

The BBTB2 challenge this week is a farm theme, so I immediately thought of pictures I took when we visited the Pony Express Museum in May.  Ponies=farm animal, right?  (since we haven't been around any actual farm animals, being city folk....unless crazy house cats count...lol)  I broke out my Old West and County Fair cartridges for some fun western accents.  In fact, it's possible I got a little carried away, but oh well.

The paper is SO cool-it's by October Afternoon and the collection is called Sasparilla.  Very very cute retro themed cowboy and western paper.  As soon as I saw it at Archiever's, I grabbed some for all my pictures from this museum.
