Sun, Sand, and Sea layout

Happy Monday!  It is HOT HOT HOT here in KC with heat indexes well over 100 degrees and our BBTB2 challenge happens to be water fun.  What better way to cool off, right?  It's almost too miserable to be outside here even if you're in water!!  While I normally have lots of pool pictures to scrap, we have been in the middle of a huge pool and deck renovation this summer, so we haven't gotten to swim much.  So I dug back through the "to be scrapped pile" and made two different layouts for pics of Caribbean water fun from awhile back.   You can see all the design team projects over at BBTB2 and link up a project, as always.

Layout #1

This first one uses the CM Traveler cartridge for all the cricut cuts for pics of the boys while we were climbing Dunn's River Falls in Jamaica.

summer theme

Happy Monday!  It's summertime and I'm ready to kick back with some cool drinks and summer fun. Since I'm hosting at BBTB2  this week, I picked a summer theme for the challenge.  The cricut cuts on my layout have all my favorite things about summer...sunshine, yummy treats, and getting wet!  The title is from an oldie but goodie cartridge-Stretch Your Imagination.  Go check out the designer's awesome projects at BBTB2 and link your own up this week.

Blue Hawaii layout

Happy Monday!  Our BBTB2 challenge this week is in honor of Elvis' birthday-make a project that references an Elvis song.  My layout is reflecting the Blue Hawaii album.  I used the Life is A Beach and Doodlecharms cartridges for most of this beach layout.  Since I'm not going to get to go anywhere tropical this winter and it's been super cold and wintery here in KC, this will have to give me that tropical vibe I am wishing for.  There are some fun Elvis projects up over at BBTB2 for you to take a look and enter the challenge for a chance at a prize!!!!

It's a summer beach and pool layout bonanza!!!

Happy Monday!  Coming back to the real world after vacation is requiring much diet Coke to the rescue today!!!  We had a great trip to Rocky Mountain National Park in Estes Park, CO and I took tons of amazing pictures.  While I make no claims to being anything special as a photographer, the pictures practically take themselves when you are someplace so beautiful with a nice camera and I can't wait to scrapbook all of our adventures!  So before I get to the crafty stuff, I'll share a little Rocky Mountain goodness…

Cruise scrapbook for the BBTB2 "Cool Down at Sea" challenge

Happy Monday!  I hope the sun is shining and you're ready for an awesome week!  I am trying to cram the doctor, dentist, and orthodontist visits for all the kids into this week before school starts and squeeze in some last minute summer swimming fun.  Even though it's the beginning of August, it feels like summer is over with school starting next week for the kids!

 I've been putting together layouts for my cruise pictures from our two cruises this year and thought I'd show you some of them, since our BBTB2 challenge this week is "cool down at sea".  Each layout has the cartridges used above it and the picture spots are for 4x6 pictures unless otherwise noted and they are not in any particular order.  While I usually include the paper line, I didn't here, since this is a long post.  If you are interested in a particular layout's paper line, ask in the comments and I'll be happy to share.  I scrap lifted two of the layouts and I have the original blog listed where I saw the layout.  The rest of the design team at BBTB2 have some amazing projects to cool you off and make you feel that ocean breeze, so go take a look!

Happy Monday!  It's a VERY happy Monday for me because I'm on vacation with the fam!  We are cruising the western Caribbean and I will be lounging on a deck chair hopefully holding a fruity drink with an umbrella when you read this!   I am very excited that I will not have to cook a single meal!!!!!  (With 3 teenage boys, you understand this is a big deal, lol!)  It's summer fun time and our BBTB2 challenge this week is water, so I've taken the opportunity to create two layouts for some of my cruise pictures.

Layout #1

This layout is for some pool or ocean pictures from the cruise, using the H2O and Life Is A Beach cartridges for all the pool toys and beach gear.  I added some of the waves from Life Is A Beach to the journaling spot.  I am looking forward to our day on the beach in Labadee the most, so I should have lots of pics for this layout for sure!

The kids are looking forward to trying out the surf simulator on the deck of our ship, so I used the Create A Friend cartridge for the title and wave.  The cute paper is from the Doodlebug Sunkissed collection.  The BBTB2 team has some ultra-cool projects to inspire you and we hope you'll link up a project for us to see!

Shedd Aquarium layout

I've got an aquarium layout for you today that I'm going to link to the Fantabulous Cricut Wet and Wild challenge this week.  We went to the Shedd aquarium in Chicago last summer and I took lots of cool fishy pictures that need a home!

The background paper is from the Colorbok Beach House collection and I layered different strips on the bottom (cut using a wave template I've had forever).  All the fish (including shark, octopus, crab) and coral are from the Life As A Beach cartridge.  I did add a teeny piece of black under the eyes of all the fish.  The title uses two different fonts- the big font is from Birthday Bash and the smaller font is the Lyrical Letters Jack Sprat.  The coral and seaweed are from Life As A Beach also.

Under Sea Life aquarium layout (for BBTB2)

It's an altered cricut cut challenge at BBTB2 this week-alter the cut with paint, mod-podge, ink, or whatever you like.  I was making a layout for some pictures from the Shedd aquarium in Chicago, so I jazzed up my undersea critters from the Pack Your Bags cartridge with stickle here and there, plus mr. jellyfish is covered with liquid pearl to make him look all shiny and jelly-like.  I also cut some coral and other critters from Life as a Beach to add to my marine scene (and had to add some more stickle…can there ever be too much….?).  The title font is the sugar script font from Type Candy, my newest font obsession.  Do you ever get on a kick with a font and then can't stop using it?  That's me and Type Candy!

Lake layout (for BBTB2)

It's a new week at BBTB2 with a new challenge-Summer Heat is for the Birds.  I used the Life as a Beach cartridge to make a layout for some pictures taken while we were boating at the lake.  I love the seagulls and  pelican on the LAB cart!  I also like the font very much, even though it does not have a shadow.  It was one of the very first cartridges I bought when I first got my cricut.  All the cuts on this layout are from LAB, including the fun school of fish.

 What is summer without a trip to the zoo?  I've now got lots of zoo pictures to scrap!   I kept to a clean and simple design, for some pictures from the sky tram and from the sea lion show.  The title and seal die cut are from the Animal Kingdom cartridge (and yes, they did tell us at the show that sea lions and seals are NOT the same thing, but ....close enough for me!).  I put a sun from Life As A Beach on the other side, to make the design look balanced.   The paper and stickers are from the fabulous Echo Park collection All About a Boy.  And the stickers were absolutely perfect for my layout (you can read them better in the close-ups-you will LAUGH)!

Sun and Sand layout (for BBTB2)

My Design Team sister Caroline has chosen the beach as our challenge theme at BBTB2 this week!  Makes me just want to go dig my toes in some sand, although that's in short supply here in the Midwest!  I did find some pictures of us with our toes in the sand, however, from a trip to Florida a few years ago that I hadn't gotten around to putting in an album.

I used a couple of different cartridges for this layout.  The font is from Life as a Beach, which does NOT have a shadow, so I cut the letters a second time in dark brown and offset them slightly to give a shadow effect.   The sand castle is from Doodlecharms and the seahorse and shells are from Create a Critter.

Keep It Wild layout

We went to the zoo twice this summer and I found the most fantastic paper for the pictures-the Bo Bunny Zoology collection!  I made my first layout with it (after a brief period of paralysis because I couldn't bear to cut any of the paper...), using the Give a Hoot cartridge for the Keep It Wild title.  All the leaves are from Life as A Beach.  The beautiful button and silver leaf charm were both in the little button kit from the collection.
