superhero birthday card

Happy Monday!  Our BBTB2 challenge theme this week is superheroes.  I have some family birthdays over this next few weeks, so I made a superhero birthday card with one of the adorable birds from 3 Birds on Parade.  Doesn't he look splendid flying off to greet the birthday boy?  Now I've got to come up with a suitably super gift!  The design team has some "super"  :) projects involving superheroes over at BBTB2 and you can link up a project there all week.

Fabulous Fall layout

Happy Monday!  Has it felt like fall in your neck of the woods?  It still feels like hot, sticky late summer here in Kansas City.  Our BBTB2 challenge this week is fall....but my current events are full of shorts, t-shirts, and swimming pools.  With a little high school football mixed in.  However, I had pictures from last year of two of my sons playing fiddle at a local fall festival, so I whipped up this fabulous fall layout using the 3 Birds on Parade cartridge.  I love this cartridge and I think I've used almost every single cut on it at one time or another.  Hope you will join us over at BBTB2 and submit a project!  You can see the design team projects for inspiration there as well.  We also now have a Facebook group you can join.

You're Tweet layout

Happy Monday!  I hope you are enjoying all things spring!  My enjoyment is somewhat tempered by the explosion of pollen….I am remaining fully medicated with what seems like an entire pharmacy of allergy meds.  But it sure is nice to be able to wear only a light jacket in the morning and a tee shirt by afternoon!

So on to our BBTB2 challenge this week-the theme is birds and there are so many to choose from on all the cricut cartridges!  I finally settled on a bird from one of my favorite cartridges, 3 Birds on Parade.  This layout will be for some fun family pictures, although it would fit about anything!  I'm using up my last few bits of an old Bo Bunny collection.  Do you ever feel sad when you've used up the last of a favorite paper?  Paper regret-that's what I've got, now that it's gone, LOL!  Flock on over to the projects that the design team at BBTB2 has put together this week and share something fun you make.

Miles Above the Rest layout plus Watching the World Go By layout

Are you recovering from the holidays?  We had a wonderful Christmas with all our family but I'll confess I'm enjoying a relaxing week with home with the kids over the rest of the holiday break from school, with no music lessons or school events.  It's bitterly cold outside, so perfect weather to for me curl up in the basement and have crafty fun!  And while I swore I was done baking after my Christmas baking marathon, the kids are begging for cookies, so I believe some cookie baking is in store today.

I have two layouts today, both using the Echo Park We Are Family collection.  Over Thanksgiving, I attended a huge family reunion for my uncle's 90th birthday. This paper collection has been perfect for scrapping some the multigenerational family pictures I took.  Layout #1 was inspired by the hot air balloon paper and I found the perfect title on the Wild Card 2 cartridge (along with the hot air balloons), to reflect that our awesome extended family, spread all over the country, is "Miles Above the Rest".   Lots of pics of family groups hanging out and talking will go on here.

Layout #2 was also inspired by the paper, in this case the globe with the heart paper.  I found the title on 3 Birds on Parade-Watching the World Go By.  The journal box says "making memories".  I have lots of pics of all of us looking at the memorabilia celebrating my uncle's life that were displayed that will go on here.  The  sticker strips on the top and bottom were from the paper collection.

Father's Day BBQ layout

This weekend is Father's Day!  To celebrate the fathers, my extended family is getting together this weekend for a BBQ (my dad got an amazing new smoker-so we HAVE to test it out...as many times as needed, lol!).   We are getting him a collection of different barbecue sauces for his gift, which I think he will like.  I made a fun layout using 3 Birds on Parade with the grilling bird and the great font with the bird feet for the title!  I found some paper that kinda made me think red checkered tablecloth and it went from there.

Rainy Day Play Time layout (for the BBTB2)

April showers mean umbrellas, which is the theme for the BBTB2 challenge this week!  I got out one of my favorite cartridges, 3 Birds on Parade, and made my Rainy Day layout, for pics of the kids playing on a rainy day.  I love the bird in his cheery rain boots with his colorful umbrella-he's so darn cute!  I also have a ridiculous fondness for the font on this cart with the bird foot on each letter!!!

The background paper is from The Paper Studio and gave me that rainy day feel, but my bird has his happy umbrella and rain boots to perk him up (the rain also has helped the spring flowers bloom for Mr. Bird).  Plus, stomping in the puddles is very satisfying!  My kids still feel compelled to stomp in puddles, even as big as they are!

Let's be Merry card

Santa bird has come out to play, from 3 Birds on Parade!  And doesn't he look jolly on his action wobble!  He can bounce around in the snow!  (I think Santa throws a snowball or two every now and then to keep the elves on their toes....)  The snowflakes are from the CM Cheerful Seasons cart, although I did not cut all the layers, since I just wanted white.   The printed papers are Echo Park, and the stamp set is from Ali Edwards.

Fabulous Fall layout

Today I am the guest designer over at Die Cuttin' Divas!  The challenge is to  make a fall project using a die cut and your three favorite fall colors.  I paired the basket with leaves from my beloved Doodlecharms with the super cute bird from 3 Birds on Parade playing in the leaves!  I used red, yellow, and green for my 3 colors (those are the colors on the trees outside my window) and brown for a neutral.  I added some brads and inking to the basket for fun!  And the fun journal box is actually the card cut on Doodlecharms, with a little twine added!  All the cuts on the Doodlecharms cart have a card feature with the image cut out.

Song Bird layout

I completed this layout awhile ago and thought I'd post it while we are on vacation.  We are having a blast and I'm thinking on theme park layouts for the future and will be searching the web for inspiration!   I think I may need a vacation from my vacation next week though-my feet are VERY tired!  On to the layout:

The show choir that Son#2 sings in performed Bye Bye Blackbird as the finale to the spring concert.  It brought the house down and inspired this layout, as I knew I wanted to use the singing bird from 3 Birds on Parade.  I LOVE the font with the bird feet that I used for the choir name!   So ridiculously cute!  I used the musical note cutouts from his little song bubble to jazz up the journal box.

Pre game Tailgate layout

On Son#2's field trip to the ball park, the kids got to have the fun of tailgating for lunch at the stadium.  Some of the parents fired up the grills to BBQ hotdogs for all (grilling hotdogs for over 100 was VERY brave, I thought).   It was a good time and perfect way to end the elementary school years with fun and friendship and start the summer fun.  I had so much fun cutting out the grilling bird and baseball bird from 3 Birds on Parade-I absolutely LOVE that cart.  It is so fun!  I found this awesome baseball paper at Hobby Lobby.   The hotdog is from Simply Charmed.

King of the Grill card

This card is for my sons to give to my husband on Father's Day.  My husband is definitely the King of the Grill and often fires up the smoker or grill to do some BBQ!  When you have a whole shelf in the fridge for the collection of BBQ sauces and marinades, you know it's serious!  (Of course here in KC we take our BBQ very seriously anyway, as pretty much any random person off the street can tell you where to find some fabulous ribs and burnt ends.)  I've been waiting for the right occasion to cut the bird with the grill from 3 Birds on Parade and here it was!   I'm hoping we can celebrate Father's Day with something delicious (maybe that he doesn't have to cook :)

Movin' On card (graduation)

Son#2 is graduating from elementary school this week.  Yikes, how did that happen?  Time really goes by in a blink (except on days that last forever while not going so well, but enough philosphy, right?).   On to the good stuff-I made him a cute card for his graduation ceremony with 3 Birds on Parade, one of my top 5 favorite carts.  Incidentally, he is the one who convinced me to buy it in the first place!   The stamp set is from TPV called Graduation, and has all kinds of handy graduation sayings and stamps with a kind of weathered look.

Funny Bunny layout

We are dyeing Easter eggs and having our egg hunt this weekend-both family traditions!  I made a layout using 3 Birds on Parade and this really cool Easter egg paper from the Paper Studio that I found at Hobby Lobby for some of these upcoming pics.  (The eggs are from Doodlecharms.)  Sorry the pics are so dark-it has been cloudy and rainy all day here.

flying high layout

Spring is in the air and so are trips to the park!   We spent a lovely early evening in March swinging at the park and shopping for some spring clothes (those darn kids keep outgrowing their clothes-what is up with that?), so I had fun doing a layout with more of the Echo Park A Boy's Life collection.  The title flying high is from 3 Birds on Parade-perfect for those action shots on the swings, since they were challenging each other to see who could go the highest.

Magical thank you card

Son#2 received some Harry Potter posters as a gift and needed to write a thank you card.  I immediately thought of the magician bird on 3 Birds on Parade, who kind of gives me that Harry Potter vibe.  The background paper is from Echo Park's A Boy's Life collection.   I'm happy to report he loved this card so much that I've been requested to make him another without a sentiment AND son#1 wants one too!

baby book-Easter page

Here is the Easter page for the baby book I'm making (as a gift for someone).  The other pages I've done so far can be found under the mini album tag.  The bunny baby on Simply Charmed is just too cute!!!  The eggs and basket are from Doodlecharms and the funny bunny title is from 3 Birds on Parade.  I'm mainly using Doodlecharms and Simply Charmed for the book, so that the pages will have a similar feel.  I'm going to link this to the Fantabulous Cricut challenge this week to use purple, green, and turquoise on a project.

Don't forget to check out the post below this for my 50 followers blog candy give-away.

It's Your Bird-day! card

This card is for a blog friend's birthday, so STOP reading now Hanneke, or you will see your card (since it may still be in the mail)!  I made a shaped card (for the Cricut Creative Cutter Room challenge) from Birthday Bash, and used one of the cute birdies from 3 Birds on Parade (my current cartridge obsession).  The sentiment stamps are from the My Pink Stamper set Punny-licious.  I also did a little stamping on the envelope and broke out my colored pencils, so the outside would have a pretty surprise as well as the inside!  That stamp is from a Stampin Up set I've had for a long time called A Flower for all Seasons.

baby book-"My First Holidays" (first few pages)

So I'm working on a Baby's First Holidays mini album as a gift for a baby shower (which is awhile away, thank goodness), and I got the first few pages done.  The person this is going to is not a scrapper, so I made the mini 6x8 so she can easily put in 4x6 pictures on the photo mats.  (I've found non-scrappers generally don't print any size photos other than the standard 4x6.)  I'm sort of planning it on the fly as I go, but I am mainly going to use Doodlecharms and Simply Charmed.  I'm sure some other carts will sneak in though, before I'm finished.  (Actually, I just realized the Snow Days is from 3 Birds on Parade!)

I'm going to link this to the challenge at SOUS this week:  "You've Got Mail", since the Valentine page fits perfectly, with the envelope and mailbox for baby's first valentine.
