holiday gift tag

Happy Christmas Eve Monday!  Are you wrapping a few last minute presents?  We are sharing some Christmas gift tags you can whip up to dress up your package or gift bag!  Mine is super quick and simple-a basic tag from Plaintain Schoolbook with a cute snowflake to pretty it up.  I made the whole thing in just a couple of minutes.  You can see the rest of the team's projects over at BBTB2 and link up your tag.

I am getting to spend some time with extended family before Christmas, which I am looking forward to, but it will be the first Christmas without all the boys home.  Son#1 is flying to London on Christmas Eve to see his girlfriend, who is studying at Oxford this year.  It's going to be a little quieter around here without him.  I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and get a chance to celebrate with some of the special people in your life!

Sparkly ornament Christmas card

Happy Monday!  I'm sharing another one of the very sparkly Christmas cards I made using the SU Dazzling Diamonds glitter.  The ornament is from an SU stamp set my mom owns, so I can't remember the name of it.  I used SU coastal cabana ink and the lighter color is just the imaged stamped off a second time.  I'll link to my post describing the glitter application process.  The banner is cut with my cricut and stamped.  This card is so pretty and sparkly in person!  Truly a WOW card to send.

Hope you are keeping up with all the demands of December with your sanity intact!  Santa's elves have been busy delivering all my Amazon packages, so I've got some wrapping to do.  (Thank goodness for being able to shop at 2:00 AM over lunch at work at the hospital with Amazon!)

Christmas card with holly accent

Happy Monday!  Are you getting the Christmas spirit yet?  Or feeling a little overwhelmed with all the stuff to do?  Maybe both?  This is the time of year there are SO many evening events to attend....while I enjoy them all, I find myself craving a little more downtime to relax in comfy clothes with a book and some hot chocolate.  One of my favorite parts of December is getting to correspond with all the friends and family that I don't see all the time.  And our BBTB2 challenge for this next two weeks is here to help you get going on the Christmas cards!

So, moving on to the actual project.  I got the Stampin Up cable knit embossing folder (featured below) as a Christmas gift last year and have used it on several of my Christmas card designs.  I cut a sprig of holly from the CM Cheerful Seasons cartridge as my bright and cheerful accent piece to go with my stamped sentiment. Sort of like wearing a pin on a big chunky sweater!  The designers over at BBTB2 have some gorgeous cards up to get you inspired and we hope you'll link up a project!

Very sparkly Christmas cards with Stampin Up Dazzling Diamonds

Happy Monday!  December is here and Christmas is on the horizon, so I wanted to make some Christmas cards for some of the special people in my life.  My mom and I spent a wonderful day together last week making our Christmas cards.  There was a lot of laughter and I think both of us AND the cards ended up covered in Stampin Up Dazzling Diamonds glitter.  Let's just say it is the sparkliest glitter I've ever used!  My photos do not do it justice-it looks AMAZING in person!

So here's the process I followed to make these:

Step 1:  Stamp images.  I also used some of the SU Stampin Blend alcohol markers on Frosty.

Step 2:  Use Versamark ink pad all over stamped cardstock piece.

Step 3:  Cover with SU Heat and Stick powder and heat up just until color change where it gets sticky.

Step 4:  Shake SU Dazzling Diamonds (or whatever glitter you're using) all over and briefly heat again to set the glitter.  Also, do not point heat gun at tray full of glitter.  Don't ask me how I know not to do that.  LOL!

Step 5:  Assemble card.  Admire sparkle.  Attempt to get glitter off self after heat gun/glitter mishap.

Seriously, all the cards we did with this method looked SO pretty with a big sparkly WOW factor!  I'll post some more that we did later in the week.  My family picked out our Christmas tree and got it decorated this weekend, so it's starting to feel a lot like Christmas around my house!  I hope you all have a wonderful week, getting to enjoy some Christmas spirit!

Deck the Halls layout

Happy Monday!  It's a very cold, snowy Monday here in Kansas City after a blizzard yesterday.  I feel like winter has arrived with a bang, as we have a lot of snow!  It was a lovely Thanksgiving day near 60 degrees and I got to enjoy having all the kids and my parents over for our Thanksgiving feast.  A turkey and a half was consumed, but at least there was enough for some leftovers this year (Jeff smoked two turkeys this year)!  Teen boys can really put away the food.  And then I got online in my comfy socks and stretchy pants after a post feast nap to do some online shopping.  Cuz that's how I roll!  No Black Friday shopping in person with crowds for me.  Plus I had to work Black Friday night, although I was surprised how many of my coworkers shopped anyway and then came to work all night.  So on to crafty things...

Our BBTB2 challenge this week starts us moving into the Christmas season with a Christmas ornament challenge.  I made a layout to hold six pics, as I take many many pictures at Christmas, between school events and all our extended family gatherings.  This Christmas ornament, tree, and title are from the Family Album cartridge.  You have two weeks to link up a project for this challenge and you can see all the wonderful design team projects over at BBTB2.

Happy Monday!  I'm hoping for some sunshine after a weekend of very cold, cloudy weather.  I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving though, even though I have to work for quite a bit of the weekend.  Happily, I have Thanksgiving day off and we are hosting some of our family for dinner.  My husband is smoking two turkeys (because one is just not enough with teenage boy appetites, lol)!

So on to crafty matters!  My card below has the big balloon from the Stampin Up Lift Me Up stamp set and Up and Away framelits.  I'm loving the set and after doing the big balloon with the framelits, I stamped and colored in the other balloons with my new Stampin Up blend markers.  This set is pretty versatile with several great sentiments and I've made several cards with it already!

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving this week and get to spend some time with people you love!  So many are going through difficult times right now (thinking of all the Californians who have lost their homes in the fires) and it reminds me that the important things are not things, but the people in our lives.

Happy Birthday layout

Happy Monday!  Our BBTB2 challenge this week features projects about birthdays.  We all need birthday cards, party favors, and scrapbook layouts for those special birthdays in our lives, right?  I've got a birthday card to share with you.  My card is simple and cute with the giraffe and balloon from the Create a Critter cartridge.  I stamped my birthday sentiment below on a handmade little banner.  Done!  I actually used this card yesterday, as we celebrated all the October and November birthdays in my extended family this weekend.  Go see all the great design team birthday projects over at BBTB2 and link one up with us!

Beware Halloween layout

Happy Monday!  I am hosting our BBTB2 challenge this week, so let's celebrate Halloween!  I'm all for a holiday where the primary celebration involves candy....bring it on!  Although the candy needs to LEAVE the house on November 1 so I don't snack on the rest of it.  Can anybody relate????

We've already had some Halloween fun going to the Haunted Houses with our teens, so I've made a layout for those pictures.  My lighting was not the best for this photo, as it has been raining, so unfortunately it is hard to see, but there is a spiderweb and scary spider, black cat, and the word Beware on here somewhere.  It's just like the haunted house-it sneaks up on you, lol!!!!  All my cricut cuts are from Artbooking, cut on the real dial size.  Hope you have a wonderful week that maybe includes some chocolate goodies!

Autumn layout

Happy Monday!  Well, the rain in my neck of the woods has just gone on and on, but nothing like what those experiencing Hurricane Michael have endured.  The KC area has been in a drought, but I'm not sure getting all the rain at once is a good thing....   I am more than ready for some sunshine and crisp fall days instead of the gray gloomy ones of this last week!

Our BBTB2 challenge this week is to use a word fall or autumn related word on a project.  I used two of my favorite oldie but goodie cartridges to make this Autumn layout.  The title comes from Lyrical Letters and the sweet pumpkin man is from Stretch Your Imagination.  The designers over at BBTB2 have some great fall projects shared and you can also link one up there over the next two weeks.

Wish big birthday card

Happy Monday!  We were supposed to have a very busy weekend of fall festival performances by all the kids....but the weather had other ideas.  We got in the Friday night football game and band performance by Son#2, who is a drum major for the marching band, and then the rain came.  And still hasn't stopped!  It has rained pretty much nonstop all weekend!  We still got to attend a symphony concert by Son#1 Saturday night, but all the fall festival events and band competitions got cancelled.  It actually was kind of nice to have some unexpected time at home with the fam.

While this is not a BBTB2 challenge week, I am sharing a birthday card that I made with the Birthday Bash cartridge.  We have a bunch of birthday events coming up....so I've been making a bunch of cards!  I've always wanted to make this cute little guy with his stack of presents.  It took a few tries to get my colors sorted out on the presents, but I finally got it all put together and I think my nephew will like this Wish Big card!  On to find a big birthday gift!  I hope you all have a wonderful week, whether full of sunshine or rain!

Coffee, Tea, and Me cards

Happy Monday!  Can you believe it is October already?  The weather here is finally feeling like fall.  It's been a busy weekend of Homecoming events for my high schoolers, so I have a lot of scrapbooking to do, as I took A LOT of pictures.  I'm looking forward to some cozy evenings in my PJs with some hot tea and my cricut to get started!

Our challenge theme this week of Coffee, Tea, and Me at BBTB2 forces me to confess that I don't like coffee...(all my caffeine comes from mainlining Diet Coke).  I do love hot tea, however, and have an entire cabinet full of any kind of tea anyone could possibly want.  Constant Comment and Earl Grey are my favorite blends, but I'm also partial to a good oolong.  Although really I will drink almost any tea except Lipton.  I'm kind of a diva that way!  But on to the cricut part of this post!  I made this first card below using the Wild Card 2 cartridge for my steaming cup of tea.  The second card uses the CM This and That cartridge for the cute little teapot.  The rest of the design team has some hot steaming cups of goodness to share over at BBTB2 and you can link up a coffee or tea project over at BBTB2 for the next two weeks.

Happy Monday!  Our BBTB2 challenge this week is an anything with a cricut cut challenge.  So if you have that partially finished orphan project, here's your chance to get it finished off and share!  My layout is for pictures from a fall festival last year.  I used several cartridges for my fall themed scene-  Artistry, County Fair, and Mickey and Friends.  Hope you all have a good week and if you are from the areas being rained on by Florence, I hope you stay safe and dry.

It's Labor Day-celebrating careers

Happy Labor Day Monday!  I hope some of you have gotten to enjoy a 3 day weekend!  Our BBTB2 challenge this week is to do a project highlighting Labor Day-either how you celebrate or featuring a career.   I made a card focusing on teachers.  With 3 kids in school, they are a big part of our life.  I used the Teddy Bear Parade cartridge to make my cute little teacher with his teddy bear Mac (the cuteness!) and argyle sweater.  I hope you will check out the projects over at BBTB2 and link one of your own!

Marching Band layouts

We have changed our format a bit at BBTB2, going to an every other week post.  However, I am planning to continue posting most Mondays and will share some of my other projects, as I make lots of things that don't necessarily fit the challenge themes or don't include a cricut cut.

This week, I have three layouts, although they don't all include my cricut.   Son#2 is one of the drum majors conducting his high school marching band this season, so I know I will be taking lots of pics of their show this year at competitions and at the football games.  I found a fantastic paper pack called Band Geeks from Photo Play.  It is perfect for all my band layout needs!  These three are all ready for my pics.  Have a great week and enjoy the upcoming Labor Day weekend!

back to school

Happy Monday!  It's that back to school time and that's our challenge theme for the week at BBTB2! My high schoolers started last Wednesday and my college guy starts this week, although he's already moved back to the dorm last week, as he's going to be one of the RAs this year for the dorms.  I always take first day of school pictures (since kindergarten!), so I snapped a few Wednesday and made this layout for them using the Locker Talk cartridge for all my cricut cuts.  Hope you will join us for a project this week and you can link up over at BBTB2!

Totally a Tourist and You Are Here layouts

Happy Monday!  I am hosting over at BBTB2 this week and I selected a vacation/travel theme.  It's summertime and I figure at least some of you have some kind of trip going on at some point, and of course you will take some pictures.  Because if you don't instagram or facebook a trip pic or two....did you really go?  LOL, I'm kidding!!!!!  The real reason I take lots of pictures when I travel so I can look back and enjoy the memories.

I used the CTMH You Are Here cartridge for both these layouts-it is loaded with travel images for all kinds of trips. Highly recommend this cartridge!  Our design team over at BBTB2 has lots of great travel projects for you to see, so take a look and link up!

adventure layout

Our BBTB2 challenge this week is using frames or borders on a project.  I used both on my layout of some theme park pictures from last week's trip to Branson.  The right hand page multi-photo frame is one of the frames on the Artbooking cartridge, which I cut fit to page.  The arrow border is also from Artbooking, along with the adventure title and the sun.  I used several stickers from the paper line to accent the page, although the pink tiny letter stickers don't show up well in my blog photo.  I took about 100 pictures on our 2 day trip, so I was excited to get lots of photos on this layout!  I'm showing it below with and without the pics.  Go check out the rest of the design team projects over at BBTB2 and link one up this week.

Surf's Up layout

Happy Monday!  Summer is in full swing!  I took a quick overnight trip with the fam this week to an amusement park and had many rollercoaster riding adventures trying to keep up with our teens.  I think my head is still spinning.  It was a short trip, but lots of fun.  It is good to be back home in the air conditioning however, as it was hotter than Hades at the amusement park.  Many frozen lemonades and slushies were consumed trying to stay cool!

Our BBTB2 challenge this week is a beach theme (or lake, for those of us in the middle of the country).  While my first thought on a beach theme was summer beach fun, the beach pictures I wanted to scrap are from a December trip to San Francisco, so I went in a little bit of a different direction with my project.  I wanted to really showcase these winter beach pictures and went with muted colors for my background paper and very simple embellishments.  My Surf's Up title is from the Luau cartridge and I used cricut cut circles for my journal area and one picture.  (The other words and accents are puffy embellishments from Kaisercraft.).  The rest of the designers have some superfun beachy projects for you to see over at BBTB2 and you can link one up too.

zoo

Happy Monday!  It's been a busy week for me....Son#2 got his wisdom teeth removed so I was nursing at home AND at work.  Our BBTB2 challenge this week is a zoo theme.  I went WAAAAAY back and scrapped some pictures from a zoo trip when the kids were much younger, using the Animal Kingdom cartridge.  It's an oldie but goodie.  I also broke out my cricut markers, which I forget to use, and outlined the polar bear and title.  The Oh Snap and borders are from Artbooking.  The KC Zoo has a big polar bear exhibit, along with a giant polar bear statue that the kids loved to pose beside when they were smaller.  You can check out the design team projects over at BBTB2 and link up a zoo project of your own this week.

Xmas in July

Happy Monday!  Hope you all had a good 4th of July!  I had a super relaxing day, finished off with watching fireworks with the fam!  Our BBTB2 challenge this week is Christmas in July....although I'm having a bit of a hard time thinking about Christmas when it's close to 100 degrees with lots of humidity.  Where is that polar air when you need it?  However, you can make a Christmas card or project to be ready to go when it is cold and festive right now!  Since I'm more of a scrapbooker than card maker, I scrapped some Xmas pics with this layout featuring Christmas ornaments.  The rest of the design team has some amazing Christmas cards over at BBTB2.  Go take a look and link up!  And stay cool...ish....this week!

4th of July

Happy Monday!  Are you looking forward to the 4th of July this week?  Celebration and firework plans?  I am excited that both my hubby and I have the day off, although Son#1 has to work part of the day.  We are planning to go see the fireworks show that our little KC suburb puts on in the city park every year in the evening, taking our lawn chairs, cooler, and snacks.  It's always a fun time and I always try to snap a few shots of family and fireworks.  Our BBTB2 challenge theme this week is 4th of July of course, so I whipped up a scrapbook layout for my upcoming pics, using the Independence Day cartridge for the 4th of July images.  I hope you will join us with a project over at BBTB2 and the designers have some awesome projects to look at.  Have a great (and safe) holiday week!

Happy Monday!  It's been a beautiful weekend in Kansas City and we have had family and friends in the pool every day.  I took so many pictures!!!  Since it is my turn to host at BBTB2 this week, I selected a Summer Swim theme so I can get started scrapping some of these pics.  I used the H2O cartridge for the layout below, because I love the cute little pool float!  The paper from Photo Play is bright and colorful, which will go with the colorful pictures!  Hope you will pop over to BBTB2 and see the awesome design team projects and you can link one up there too.

Happy Monday!  Have you been able to enjoy any summer?  We've been spending lots of time in the pool, as the weather has been hot and sunny!  Our BBTB2 theme this week is tropical:  either the vacation variety or the tropical flower variety.  While we aren't going anywhere tropical this summer, our backyard pool feels like our own little tropical paradise so my layout is for some pool pictures.  I used two cartridges, CM Traveler and You Are Here for all the cuts.  The colorful print papers are some from Echo Park that I bought last year.  Hope you will go see the rest of the design team projects and link up one over at BBTB2!

graduation

Happy Monday!  Mine is actually not so stellar, as I've caught a bad cold.  Why are summer colds a thing, anyway?  I'm doped up on NyQuil wishing I felt like doing something outside ☹️.  Or something crafty.  However, I suspect crafting while taking NyQuil might result in improper use of scissors, adhesive, and possibly glitter glue.  I think you aren't supposed to operate power tools OR glitter while doped up with cold medicine....

So on to our weekly challenge at BBTB2- it's a graduation theme, drumroll please.  The time of year for caps and gowns has arrived and while I don't have a graduate this year, Son#1 graduated from high school last year and we have the next kid graduating next year!!!!  I made this layout for pics of Son#1's ceremony, using the Create A Friend cartridge.  I show it both with and without the photos for fun!  Hope you will join us with a project!

Adorable bunny layout

Happy Monday!  School is almost out, the sun is shining, and the pool is beckoning....I'm feeling some summer, how about you?  Hope you had some fun over the holiday weekend!  While I am working tonight for my holiday shift, I did lots of yard work this weekend and got to jump in the pool as a reward, since we got it opened last week.  Yay for summer!

Our BBTB2 challenge this week is an animal theme.  Son#2 wanted a bunny for his birthday last year, so in December Bo the Bunny joined our family.  He is a mini-Rex dwarf bunny, meaning he is a little guy at 4 lbs in the bunny world.  We've all fallen in love with him and he is truly adorable with a sweet playful personality.  My layout uses the title and bunny cut from Kate's ABCs for some pictures of the day we got Bo.  You can link up a project using any cricut animal over at BBTB2 and see all the design team projects.

thanks a bunch card

Happy Monday!  It's been a good week because my college kid is back home for the summer-it's good to have all the chicks back in the nest, lol!  Although he wasn't far away, I missed seeing him every day.  My high schoolers are finishing up finals, but still have school til the end of May to make up all the days missed due to snow and cold.  Needless to say, they are beyond ready to be done with school!!!!

Our BBTB2 challenge this week is to showcase flowers-because after all, it's May and the flowers have started blooming!  I used the Walk in My Garden cartridge to make this super simple thank you card.  All the cuts, including the sentiment, are from the cartridge.  I liked the flowers against the woodgrain paper!  Hope you will scope out the projects at BBTB2 and play along and have a wonderful week!

Happy Monday!  I hope all the moms out there had a wonderful Mother's Day!  While I did have to work, my fellas spoiled me all weekend with yummy food.  And I got to spend some time with my mom too!  So for our BBTB2 challenge this week, we are celebrating occasions with dance.  My layout below reflects my high school freshman's first school dance last year, which was Homecoming.    We took lots of pictures, so I was glad to get some of them in the scrapbook!  I used the Formal Occasion cartridge for all the cricut cuts-it has wonderful layered titles that let you incorporate several colors.  I'm also in love with the curly framed journaling box!!!  I hope you'll make a project and link it up at BBTB2 and be sure to go see the design team's fabulous projects!

Happy Monday!  I'm hosting over at BBTB2 this week and we are having a Mother's Day themed challenge-here's your chance to make mom a special card or gift!  Or a chance to make a scrapbook layout for pictures of the day.  I've made my mom a card (STOP READING NOW, MOM), using the Lyrical Letters cartridge for the sentiment and Elegant Edges for the background shape.  I did a little embossing to add texture and of course some flowered background paper.  Mothers always deserve to have flowers!  The designers over at BBTB2 have shared cards and layouts, so pop over and take a peek!  We hope you will link up a project this week to share with us.

All the Heart Eyes and Smile layouts

Happy Monday!  We are headed into the last few weeks of school, so the high schoolers and my college guy are feeling rather stressed out with finals and end of year activities looming close.  But spring seems to have finally arrived, so there's sunshine and blue skies, which is cheering ME up!

We have a fun challenge this week over at BBTB2-use a face, facial feature, or the word smile on a project.  I have two projects to share, one with the smiley face from Graphically Speaking and the other using the word smile from Wild Card.  Guess I am an overachiever this week, lol!  You can see the design team projects over at BBTB2 and link up a project as well.

Play Ball layout

Happy Monday!  Our BBTB2 challenge this week is to feature baseball or other spring sports on a project.  This was very timely, as I'm going to a KC Royals game for Nurse Appreciation Day with a bunch of my co-workers in a few weeks.  We are having a pre-game tailgate beforehand with lots of BBQ goodness (pretty much all tailgating in Kansas City involves yummy BBQ,  lol), so I know lots of fun pictures will be taken.  I am looking forward to it!

For my baseball themed layout, I used the Sports Mania cartridge for the title and 3 small balls decorating the other page.  The baseball trim along the sides is actually washi tape, not paper, that I got from Doodlebug.  And I made my journaling spot round to echo the shape of a baseball.  So we've got baseball going on all over this layout, all ready for some pictures!  The design team has projects featuring several spring sports, so go take a look over at BBTB2 and you can link a project up too.

Happy Monday!  Our BBTB2 challenge this week is to jazz up whatever die cut you use in some way.  I was making a birthday card, so I used the ice cream cone from Sweet Treats and added some embossing and liquid glass to the ice cream cone.  I also made it extra big to fit in a business size envelope, because with ice cream more scoops are always better, right?  (At least until the Weight Watcher's weighin, lol!).  I stamped happy birthday on a banner I cut from the Artiste cartridge using one of the coordinating CTMH stamps.  The design team has some inspiration to share over at BBTB2 and you can link up a project too.

Cricut:
Sweet Treats-ice cream cone
Artiste-happy birthday banner
Stamps-CTMH Artiste birthday collection for sentiment, CTMH Balloon Wishes banner stamp (coordinates with Artiste), Paper Smooches for ice cream cone stamp
Ink-Stampin Up Rose Romance
Paper-CTMH solids, The Paper Studio for ice cream paper
Embossing folders-cuttlebug Swiss dots, Sixzzix swirls, Sizzix cross hatched pattern
Liquid Glass on cherry and sprinkles

Sunny Days layout

Happy Monday!  Our BBTB2 challenge this week is an "anything goes" spring theme.  I don't know where spring is, but it is NOT anywhere near my house.  It snowed (again) yesterday!!!!  We miss you, spring-come soon!  So, I guess I will have to get my spring fix from my layout for sunny days and kite flying.  The happy cloud background paper from Doodlebug just made me want to be frolicking outside on a sunny spring afternoon in the yard (reality would be yard work, not frolicking, but I'd be smiling in the sunshine at least while I planted flowers).  I used the Create A Critter cartridge for all the cricut cuts, including the title.  The design team over at BBTB2 has some sweet springy projects to excite you and you can link up yours there too.

Cricut:
Create A Critter-sun, cloud, title, kite, heart houses
Paper-CTMH solids, Doodlebug prints
brown chalk ink for edging
