Holly Christmas card

Happy Monday!  I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving weekend.  I enjoyed my Thanksgiving day off, although I had to work some shifts at the hospital the rest of the weekend.  I did get a little online holiday shopping done though!

Well, Christmas season is upon us and our BBTB2 challenge this week is the hanging of the greens: use a Christmas plant or tree.  I love holly and I make at least one card design with a holly leaf each year, so I'm sharing one of my Christmas cards.  This is my favorite cricut holly leaf (from the CM Cheerful Seasons cartridge) on a kraft card base.   I popped up my holly leaf on some foam tape and added a border with my pen to frame it.   Sweet and simple!  I hope you'll take this opportunity to check out the projects at BBTB2 and maybe create a few special Christmas cards yourself to share with us by linking up over at the BBTB2 site.

A few Christmas cards

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving day!  I am very thankful for my family and the opportunity to spend some time with those I love.  It was a very relaxing day, as I didn't have to work at the hospital on Thanksgiving day or night this year (for which I am also thankful, lol!  As a nurse, working a lot of holidays goes with the territory).  My husband smoked a turkey, which was, in the words of the kids, epic in taste and my parents came over to enjoy the meal with us.  We ended the evening with a family movie night with a roaring fire in the fireplace, making me feel all warm and cozy!

I also got in a little crafty time in the basement to make some Christmas cards.  So here are a couple of them!  The first one is stamping only, no cricut.  I was feeling peaceful with a slate gray and white color combo.
Card #1

This next one did not photograph well…but it's a basic snowflake cut from Winter Woodland attached onto a Swiss dots embossed pair of circle with a brad.  I was going for an all white look (which I find really hard to photograph but looks really pretty in person), with slate gray ink for the sentiments.

thank U card

I'm still feeling under the weather, but looking forward to some Thanksgiving goodness this week!  Our BBTB2 challenge this week is to use the word thanks on a thanksgiving themed project.  There are several people in our lives who deserve some special thanks at this Thanksgiving time of year, and I send a little note of appreciation each year at Thanksgiving.  My basic card design was sparked by something I saw on Pinterest, but in my Nyquil haze, I cannot find it to put a link (I'll try to find it later this week).  I used the Birthday Bash cartridge to cut out the card shape in kraft paper and also for the font for the big letter U.  For the thank part, I used the Sweetheart cartridge phrase thank you (using just the thank part).  The inside, which I forgot to photograph (I'm very very medicated) says "for all that you do".  The yellow candies are from Doodlebug.  Over at BBTB2, the designers have some ideas for you and you can play along and link up a project.  I hope you are able to enjoy the holiday and spend some time with those you love this week!  Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Birthday (with fall leaves)

Happy Monday!  I am a little under the weather (along with one of the kids), so it's gonna be hot tea and Vitamin C for me today-I feel kind of fuzzy.    The plan is to get the well kids off to school and me, sick kid, and the cat are gonna pile in my bed and take a nap.  There was not a lot of napping in the weekend-there is no such thing as a peaceful sick day for us moms with kids, true?

The BBTB2 challenge this week is fall leaves.  Apparently I am in a bit of a Nyquil haze, because I didn't get my project uploaded to the BBTB2 site but here it is.  My fall leaves are on a birthday card, over a piece I embossed with the woodgrain embossing folder.  The leaves are from the Artistry cartridge over a cut out window to show the woodgrain embossing.

Give Thanks layout

Happy Monday!  I hope you had a great fall weekend!  At BBTB2 this week, we have a color challenge using the fall colors of brown, gold, orange, and red.  I made a layout for some of the Thanksgiving pictures I plan to take, using the CTMH Artiste cartridge for the title and leaves.  Since the leaves were kind of plain by themselves, I added some scoring and doodling and crumpled them up  before adhering them onto my page.  I scrap lifted my basic page design from a layout by the fabulous Michelle Snyder that I saw on Pinterest (can I just say I LOVE Pinterest?) and changed it to fit the cuts from this cartridge and add some space for journaling.  Hope you will go check out the many varieties of fall colors from the design team over at BBTB2 and link up your own fall project.  It's a good time to make Thanksgiving decorations and projects…just sayin'.

Fall Calling layout

Happy Monday!  It's been a busy week of parent-teacher conferences, fall orchestra concerts, and of course watching baseball every night to see our Kansas City Royals win the World Series.  Between every song at the school concerts and in every line at the conferences, there were glowing phone screens of everybody checking the latest score.  I think the entire city was up until after midnight last night to see the win!

Moving on to crafty matters, the BBTB2 challenge this week is to use a pumpkin.  Since I have been having fun exploring my new Artistry cartridge, I used cuts from it for my fall layout except for the font (which is from the CM Stork's Delivery cartridge).  The paper is from the Carta Bella fall line.  I included a second shot with the pictures of a fall hike added, to show how I used  the wreath of leaves to bring the focus to the kids in the photo.  While you can't see it very well in the photo due to the lighting, I used my Swiss Dots embossing folder on the pumpkins to give them some texture.  The design team over at BBTB2 has lots of pumpkin goodness for you to feast your eyes on, so go check it out and have some fun linking up a project of your own!

Thought I'd show it to you with the pictures added:
