Getting Wet layout

I've got a swimming pool layout, inspired by this background paper from Authentique that reminded me of the tiles on the walls of our pool.  My whole layout is in shades of soft blues and yellow, picked up from the bg paper.  I used the Mickey Font for the title and the rest of the cuts are from the Pack Your Bags cartridge.  The kids and I are enjoying lazy days of summer and spending time in the pool every day!  I'm going to link this to the Craftin' Desert Divas Summer themed link party.

Over the Hill birthday card

We have a friend who is turning 50 this weekend, so I had to make a special birthday card for this event, lol!  I've found lots of inspiration on the Nifty Fifties cartridge recently, and I used the vintage car image for my card.  The sentiment (a quote from Charles Schultz)  is where it gets fun though.  It says "Just remember, once you're over the hill you begin to pick up speed."  It made ME laugh anyway, but we'll see what the birthday guy thinks!

Peter Pan's Flight layout (Disney project for BBTB2)

It's my first time to host the challenge at BBTB2 this week!  I love all things Disney, so I picked a Disney theme-use a cut from any Disney cartridge!  But what if you don't (gasp) have any Disney carts?  Then play along with a princess themed cut (since it's all about the princesses for the girls).  My boys are more into the masculine Disney characters however, so I have a Peter Pan themed layout, complete with Peter Pan and Captain Hook.  My guys all want to duel with Captain Hook!

 I used the Disney Classics cart-so many fun cuts on this cart!!!!  So, we've got Captain Hook and his ship, along with Peter Pan hanging out by the Indian teepees with a chest that might possibly contain gold.  John and Michael are flying over to Never Never Land (I really wanted Wendy flying over too, but didn't have enough room).  Note:  I did the eyes with my white gel pen plus a black pen for the pupils, as the pieces were too tiny to work with.  The ship was cut using fit to page, which came out at 11 inches.   The Peter Pan title with the compass is also from Disney Classics ( although I used Nate's ABCs for the word flight).

Happy Birthday layout (for Exploring Cricut)

I have a birthday layout today for the daily project for Exploring Cricut!  If your family is anything like ours, there are a LOT of birthdays to celebrate between the kids and all the cousins.  I used the Sweet Treats cartridge for all the cricut cuts on this bright and cheery happy birthday double layout.  The paper is from an old Bo Bunny line called Ad Lib.  I wanted something with fun happy colors!

Happy 4th of July week!  I hope you have some time for fun and relaxation to celebrate.  I have to work at the hospital on the fourth, but will get done just in time to go see the fireworks with the fam-so it's all good :)  I have two post today and both are 4th of July layouts!  My post for BBTB2 is just below and scroll down one post for my Exploring Cricut post.  Hope you have a wonderful week!

4th of July layout (for BBTB2)

We have a patriotic theme for our BBTB2 challenge this week!  The 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays of the year-besides celebrating our wonderful country, it is just more laid back and casual than many of the other holidays.  We always go to see the fireworks show in our city park, which is lots of fun.  Our little suburb of the KC metro usually puts on a great show, complete with band music and hotdog vendors.  We take a cooler, lawn chairs, and a frisbee and have a blast.  It's just a really fun community event.

I've made a layout for my pictures of the event, using A Child's Year for the boy on the rocket and the Phrases cartridge for the title.  I found this fabulous paper from Authentique- the kind of retro looking postcards are from the back side of one of the papers.  I added the Reach for the Stars stamp on my journal box as a little extra fun touch!

4th of July with a flag layout (for Exploring Cricut)

Our challenge for Exploring Cricut this week is to make something for 4th of July, including a flag!  I am making layouts for my fireworks pictures.  I used the silhouette die cut from the A Child's Year cartridge (love this cart-one of my faves) of the boy driving the car with a flag on the back and some stars!  There are always kids running around with flags and streamers everywhere in the park all evening, before the fireworks show.  I only had a few scraps of my print paper from Authentiqe left, so I had to get creative with it!
