Homecoming dance layout

Happy Monday!  I hope all the moms out there had a wonderful Mother's Day!  While I did have to work, my fellas spoiled me all weekend with yummy food.  And I got to spend some time with my mom too!  So for our BBTB2 challenge this week, we are celebrating occasions with dance.  My layout below reflects my high school freshman's first school dance last year, which was Homecoming.    We took lots of pictures, so I was glad to get some of them in the scrapbook!  I used the Formal Occasion cartridge for all the cricut cuts-it has wonderful layered titles that let you incorporate several colors.  I'm also in love with the curly framed journaling box!!!  I hope you'll make a project and link it up at BBTB2 and be sure to go see the design team's fabulous projects!

the perfect Homecoming dress layout (for BBTB2)

Our BBTB2 challenge this week is to use a cricut dress or dress form cut.  I had some photos of Son#1 and his girlfriend from  Homecoming last year to scrap.  I used the Formal Occasions cartridge for all the cuts on this layout.  I'm going to put their names in the blue sky space, but left that off for the blog photo.  I love the pretty formal dress and tux jacket cuts and I used blue for the flowers and shirt, since it will match their clothes in the pics.  I have some great pics of them all dressed up!

I'm looking forward to seeing the projects everyone does for this challenge-I thought of several different ways to do this, but really wanted to get these pics in the album.  The design team's ideas are all over at BBTB2 for you to see for inspiration!

Oh Baby card (for BBTB2)

It's a baby challenge at BBTB2 this week!  My project was inspired by Pinterest.  I've seen a number of  dresser cards on Pinterest with various themes, and have been eager for the occasion to try to make one.  I cut three rectangles for my dresser drawers and added brads for the knobs.  The darling little baby outfit and rattle are from the Baby Steps cartridge (so fun to cut in pink, since everything in my life is boy-related…).  The cute "Oh Baby" and "Congrats" phrases are from the Zooballoo cartridge.

Cricut:
Baby Steps-outfit cut at 2 1/2 inches, rattle cut at 2 inches
Zooballoo-phrases, both cut at 1 inch
Formal Occasion-hangar
Paper-CTMH solids, The Paper Studio pink patterned paper
brown chalk ink
Swiss dots embossing folder

We are looking forward to seeing what sweet baby goodness you come up with and you MUST go check out all the darling baby projects from the DT over at BBTB2!

Wedding layout

It's my day for the daily project at Exploring Cricut and I've got a wedding layout for you.  We attended a wedding last summer and I got some great pictures of Son#2 dancing with the bride, who was his teacher!

My layout uses several cartridges.  The bridal couple are from Stretch Your Imagination.  The bride die cut is jazzed up with some embossing and liquid pearls on her dress.  The "Here Comes the Bride" title is from Sweethearts and the other cuts are all from Formal Occasion, including the journal box frame and flowers.   The background paper is from the DCWV Formal Occasions stack.

Cricut:
Sweethearts-Here Comes the Bride
Formal Occasion-all other cuts
Paper-bg paper from the DCWV Formal Affair stack, solids are CM and CTMH

Be sure and check out the daily project at Exploring Cricut every day-there is something new to see from all the great design team members!

School Dance layout (for PDE challenges)

It's time for a new Pause Dream Enjoy Challenge and it's a "make a layout" challenge!  Now that is MY kind of challenge for sure, since a layout is my favorite crafty thing to make!  This layout is EXTRA special and fun, as it is about Son#1's first school dance earlier this month.  It was really shocking to realize that he is actually old enough to go to a dance with a girl!  I used the Formal Occasions cartridge for almost everything on this layout, including the scene with the "red" carpet, title, flowers, and journal box.  The font for 2013 is from Baby Steps, as the Formal Occasions cart does not have a font.   The challenge details and prize are at the bottom and we'd love to have you link up with a project!

Monster Mash

For one of my kid's school Halloween party, the class is having a "Monster Mash" in the gym. Here's my layout for the pics to go on, using Mini Monsters, Formal Occasions (who knew this one had "Monster Mash"?), and my favorite Doodlebug Monster Mania paper!  I used a lot of pop dots to give it some dimension.  I was down to scraps of most of this paper, so it was a bit tricky piecing all it all together strategically to cover the holes!   I've got the black mats ready to add pics after the party.

Cricut:
Mini Monsters-the skeleton, pumpkin man, and ghost
Formal Occasions-Monster Mash title
Paper-Doodlebug Monster Mania
embossing folders, black baker's twine, pop dots

I'm linking this to the TPV challenge to use a recipe of 1 pumpkin (does my pumpkin monster count?), 2 word title, and 3 buttons.

I'm also going to link to the BBTB2 challenge to make a Halloween layout and use purple on the project.  The spiderweb paper is purple in real life, and there are purple dots and stripes.  Some of the purple looks kind of periwinkle in the pictures for some reason.

Cat Mini (using Meow)

The kids loved the catnap layout and asked me to make a mini about our cat, Shadow.  So I broke out the Bella Blvd pet themed pack I'd bought on a whim, plus the Meow cartridge.  Most of the cricut cuts (except circles) are toward the back.

Cricut:
Meow-Cat themed words and cuts
Plaintain Schoolbook-circles
Formal Occasion-journal box
Paper-Bella Blvd Catnap and TailWaggers collection, which was super-cute!
Played with my new Big Shot to emboss some of the photo mats and die cuts.
